Is Tacoma LGBTQ+ Friendly? Everything You Should Know Before Moving Here.

Thinking About Moving To Tacoma?

One of the questions I always get is:

“Is Tacoma LGBTQ+ friendly?”

The short answer?

Yes.

But like any city, the full answer is a little more nuanced.

As Tacoma’s Lesbian REALTOR®, I spend my days helping people not only find houses, but find communities where they truly feel at home.

Why So Many LGBTQ+ People Choose Tacoma

Tacoma has become one of Washington’s most welcoming cities for queer people. While Seattle often gets the spotlight, Tacoma offers something many people are looking for:

  • A strong sense of community

  • More affordable housing compared to Seattle

  • Incredible local businesses

  • Walkable neighborhoods

  • Easy access to nature

  • A vibrant arts scene

  • A city where authenticy it celebrated

It’s not umcommong to see Pride flags displayed year-round in local businesses, neighborhood windows, and on front porches.

For many people, Tacoma simply feels comfortable.

It’s More Than Pride Month

One of my favorite things about Tacoma is that Queer visibility isn’t limited to just June. Throughout the year you’ll find:

  • Queer-owned coffee shops + resaurants - (here are a few of my faves!)

  • Inclusive local businesses - (check some out here!)

  • Community events - (check out FemmePowerAdventures)

  • Pride celebrations - (Tacoma Pride)

  • LGBTQ+ sports leagues - (Queer City Sports)

  • Local organizations supporting the community (check some out here!)

In fact, one of the reasons I created QueerOwnedWA was to make it easier for people to discover and suppot queer-owned businesses across Washington State, including many incredible businesses right here in Tacoma.

Whether you’re looking for a new favorite coffee shop, a wellness studio, or professional services, community is never far away.

Which Tacoma Neighborhood Is Right For You?

One of the things I love most about Tacoma is that every neighborhood has its own personality.

Instaed of asking:

“What’s the best neighborhood?”

I usually ask:

“What kind of lifestyle do you want?”

Love walkability?

You’ll love Proctor.

Want historic homes and tree lined streets?

North Tacoma’s North Slope or Stadium could be a great fit.

Looking for something quieter with larger lots?

There are wonderful options throughout the South Sound.

The “best” neighborhood isn’t always the most popular one, it’s the one that fits your life.

That’s exactly why my philosophy has always been:

HOMES > HOUSES™

Because where you live matters just as much as the house itself.

Do You Need an LGBTQ+ REALTOR®?

For some people, there’s comfort in working with someone who already understands parts of your experience. Someone who understands that buying a home isn’t just about bedrooms and bathrooms.

It’s about feeling safe. Feeling seen. Feeling like you can show up exactly how you are.

That’s why I proudly describe myself as Tacoma’s Lesbian REALTOR®.

Not becuase I only work with queer clients. I absolutely don’t.

I work with anyone who values honesty, communication, and a people-first approach to real estate.

Being open about who I am simply lets people know they’ll always be welcomed exactly as they are.

Why I Love Calling Tacoma Home

I’ve spent years exploring Tacoma’s neighborhoods, local businesses, waterfront parks, coffee shops, and community events.

It’s a city that values creativity, supports local businesses, and contineues to grow while holding onto it’s unique character.

Whether you’re relocating from another state, or simply moving across town, I believe the right community is just as important as finding the right home.

Ready to Make the Move?

No matter what state you’re at in the process, I’d love to help.

Real estate shouldn’t feel intimidating. It should feel like someone is in your corner.

If you’re looking for a Tacoma REALTOR® who believes people come before transactions, let’s connect.

Because at the end of the day, it’s always HOMES > HOUSES™.
